It can be experienced as a soundtrack to remind you of the scenes in the book in which music was either there in the background to help develop the atmosphere, or right in the foreground where the lyrics amplified what was going on for the characters.

It can also be experienced as an accompaniment to reading, so that each time a piece of music comes up on the page, you can play it while you contemplate how it fits into the story.
